Micah Fields came to the Music Post in 2020. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Comprehensive Music from Campbell University, concentrating in vocal performance and piano. He is completing his post-Baccalaureate studies from the University of South Florida in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a concentration in Speech Language Pathology. During his time at Campbell, Micah performed with the Campbell University Choir, Campbell Opera Scenes, was on scholarship in both the Campbell University Pep Band (trumpet) and Campbell Voices. He also completed an independent study in pedagogy, while teaching voice and piano at the Dunn School of Music.
Micah has participated in the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the National Federation of Music Clubs, Raleigh Piano Teacher's Association (MTNA), statewide piano competitions and the National Association of Teachers of Singing Musical Theatre and Classical auditions. As an Eagle scout, he has worked with scouting groups to complete merit badge requirements in music. His choral experience has taken him on tour to venues such as Honolulu, Hawaii and New York City with the Croatan High School Vocal Ensemble; National Anthem performance for the Yankees and Braves game with Campbell Voices; Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Maryland and a cross country concert tour in Ireland with the Campbell University Choir. In 2013, Micah studied music performance and history in the Mozart city of Salzburg, Austria at Salzburg College. He also completed the Internazionale Sprachdiplom Deutsch (International German Language Certificate) at the University of Salzburg. During his appointment, he performed German lieder, as well as opera roles such as Papageno from Die Zauberflote (The Magic Flute). In 2009, Micah signed with McCarthy Talent Management and competed in the International Talent Showcase in Miami, Florida. Prior, he worked with acting coach Lynn Seibel (D3 Mighty Ducks), earning 1st place in Teen TV Commercials and placing in the top 15 vocally. He has also attended master classes with classical vocalists and broadway performers such as, Terrence Mann (Beauty and the Beast), Joyce Chittick (Beautiful, Grease). Some roles Micah has performed in local and regional theatre companies: The Prince, Cinderella; John Rolfe, Pocohontas; Patrick, Auntie Mame; The Baker, Into The Woods; Chino, West Side Story; Chorus, Carousel. Prior to the Music Post, Micah worked in management. His long-term goal is to become a Speech Language Pathologist, combining both his vocal knowledge and teaching experience. His teaching philosophy is to motivate and create passionate performers and musicians, whether they are pursuing music as a lifelong career or hobby.
